Treibball

So what is it?

Treibball is a unique canine herding sport that has started in Germany some twenty years ago and which it is slowly making its way around the world.

Also known as urban herding, this sport offers a great opportunity to strengthen the communication and relationship between the dog and their human while providing a dog with an outlet which is an essential ingredient to their balanced life diet.

Treibball is just made for those dogs that don’t find Snifflix & Chill enriching enough and that love to work and have fun with their best friend - you! It’s like football but with yoga balls and the yoga balls represent sheep!

If your imagination needs a little boost, you better check out this demo of Barnie Sweape from the Czech Republic.

Is it for my dog & me?

Yes!

Treibball can be enjoyed by all breed types and sizes.

It may be arguably a little more suited for specific breeds there is no reason why only collies, Entlebuchers or kelpies should have all the fun!

As far as the humans are concerned, there is no limit! Humans of all ages can enjoy this sport with their dogs! It is also a lot less physically demanding than agility and similar activities where the handler needs to keep up with the dog most of the time, so it is very suitable for people with physical limitations, especially if you are only looking for something fun with your dog without the pressures of competition.

Why join the Treibball Pup Club ?!

Imagine you could teach your dog to run 20 feet (and more) away from you, stop behind a row of gym balls and then guide them to move the balls with his nose, one by one, into a goal post behind you!

As if it did not sound fun and fantastic enough, there is even more to love!

You and your dog will get to learn numerous useful skills that carry over to your everyday life together.

Your ability to ask your dog to perform actions at long distance from you will make you much more attuned to how you communicate and train with your them on everyday basis.

You will notice an improvement in your dog’s independent thinking which can massively boost their confidence.

Training Treibball will also reflect on your dog’s patience, or what we call in dog training: impulse control. In Treibball your dog learns not only to run and push but also to wait and follow for instructions in an increasingly challenging environment with other dogs, people or just by resisting the pure desire to start pushing the ball and have fun. This will also reflect in their ability to focus in surroundings with varying levels of distractions and you will most likely find your dog is more responsive to you on your walks.

By joining the Top Pup’s Treibball Pup Club you can look forward to learning those fine tuned communication skills necessary for Treibball through positive reinforcement, with focus on your shared bond and of course with lots of fun training done in person and guided with online feedback & assignments.
